Ronen's house for soldiers

Psagot has been famous for the last four decades for its warm hospitality to tens of thousands of soldiers that passed through Psagot, close relationships were built with most of them.

“Ronen’s House” was built by the initiative of residents of Psagot, in the honor of the soldiers serving in the area.

Partners in this project are “Yashar Lechayal”, most of the residents of Psagot and the “Shifon” Bakery.

“Ronen’s House” is dedicated in the name of the Duvdevan soldier, Ronen Lyubarsky Hy”d who was killed in action after leaving for his assignment from Psagot.

The place is full of soldiers at all hours of the day and night who enjoy rich refreshments and a home atmosphere, thanks to the volunteers from Psagot who are dedicated to the maintenance of the place.

The food and drink (especially the coffee ☕) and other goodies the place offers the soldiers with no charge, freshen up the soldiers on a short break in their patrols. It doesn’t matter if its soup and a hot drink in the winter, or ice cream and cold drinks in the hot summer, the soldiers in the area know they are always invited to stop and have the break they so much need.

We need your help in a donation to the upkeep of the place, food and other goodies, some games, furniture and electric appliances which serve the soldiers when they come.

The Reut Club was started 4 years ago in the memory of Rut Fogel who was murdered with her husband and 3 children in Itamar. Rut invested most of her time in supporting women after birth both physically and mentally. This is the purpose of our program.

This program involves a number of fields:

Each woman who gives birth gets a small gift with an invitation to join the club. The gift’s purpose is to make the new mother feel good and to connect young new mothers the community. The gifts are given by older members of the community and that starts a connection.

In addition to the gift, each new mother is entitled to a companion who comes to her when is needed, sometime she’ll stay with the baby so the mother can rest, or help with some house work, go out with her, sit down to a cup of coffee together… anything that will help and make the new mother stronger and happier.

The most important field is the breakfast meetings once every 2-3weeks, the new mothers meet for a good pampering breakfast and a varying activity. The club is a source of support and connection to the community to many of the new mothers. This is their chance to enjoy a pampering breakfast made specially for them, to hear lectures and information. It gets them out of the house and enriches them with important information. In the club experienced mothers meet with first time new mothers and this connection contributes enormously to the young mothers who are mainly inexperienced and insecure int their motherhood. The club creates a strong group of women who empower each other. This is the place where each new mother can share the hardships and challenges she’s dealing with and she will have a sounding board who understands her and is possibly going through the same thing.

Once a year we have a pampering women’s evening for all the women who gave birth in the passing year. The program includes rich refreshments, some studying and a releasing activity for the women. The women leave the evening stronger and feeling full of appreciation and support from the community.

The main Shul in Psagot was built over 20 years ago. Psagot was much smaller then, and so were the needs.

Over time the Sephardi and Yemenite Shuls were attached to the building but no restroom stalls were added for them

For all the women of three shuls there are only two stalls.

On Holydays or a Shabbat with a Bar Mitzva or before a wedding when many more women come to shul the situation was impossible.

Lately a decision was made to renovate the entrance to the women’s area – renovating and upgrading the restrooms, including adding stalls and making them accessible, and renovating and upgrading the women section lobby.

The cost of the renovation is $30,000. A large part of the money has been put forth by the shuls and donations from shul members.

We would be happy if you would partner with us in this important manner.
